Marie A. (jensen) Doucette

Newton, NH: Marie A. (Jensen) Doucette, 91, died peacefully Sunday July 6, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Sioux City, Iowa, daughter of the late Jens Niels Holger Jensen and Dorthea (Kok) Jensen, she moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota , where she was raised on the family farm and educated, graduating from the local high school. During W.W.II, she was employed in local factories and the local USO, where she met the love of her life, Joseph F. Doucette, a young U.S.Army Air Corpsman. They married soon after and eventually relocated to the Haverhill area , where they raised five children. They enjoyed sixty-eight years of marriage before his death in 2012.

Primarily a housewife and homemaker, Mrs. Doucette was interested in national, state and local politics and enjoyed campaigning for local Democratic candidates. She was also an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed reading. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and tending her flower and vegetable gardens.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother and had helped to raise some of her grandchildren.
A former member of Saint James Parish of Haverhill, Mrs. Doucette has been a resident of Newton since 1969 and attended Mary, Mother of the Church, Newton.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph F. Jr. and Pamela Doucette of West Hills, California, and Richard L. and Maureen Doucette of Newton, daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra M. and Charles Annan of Salem, NH, Dorothea A. and Raymond Collette of Haverhill, MA, and Carole A. and Alan Armstrong of Windham, a sister, Helen Schievelbein of Bozeman, Montana, a sister-in-law, Theresa Clements of Lawrence ,MA, eleven grandchildren, Anne LeBlanc, Jonathan Broughton, Erik Annan, Jameson Annan, Bridgette Howell, Richard Doucette,Jr. Jared Doucette, Joseph Doucette,III, George Armstrong, Carrie Armstrong, and Joshua Armstrong, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandaughters and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grand-daughter Heather Annan, six brothers, Tage Jensen, Fred Jensen, Jens Jensen, Harold Jensen, Harry Jensen and Kenneth Jensen, and three sisters, Ann Margaret Thompson, Evelyn Krull, and Bette Josten.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday July 9, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Willow Grove Cemetery, Newton Junction.
