Marianne L. McKernan was born in Los Angeles on May 30, 1929, to David and Vernetta Terry. She passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022, at Bridgecreek Senior Living in West Covina, CA, surrounded by her loving family. Despite her many physical ailments throughout the years she rarely complained and never gave up living a full life. Marianne touched so many lives during her almost 93 years and will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor and her strong love of God, family and friends.

Marianne leaves behind her two children, Patrick and Susan, as well as daughter-in-law Rachel McKernan and son-in-law Rob Bulot, whom she loved as her own. She also leaves behind five grandchildren - Katy Erling, Sean McKernan, Brandon Gillette, Christine Hawkshaw and Camille Smiley, and their spouses respectively – David Erling, Emily McKernan, Cheyenne Harding, Michael Hawkshaw and Peter Smiley, along with two great-granddaughters - Harper and Hera Hawkshaw and two great-grandsons - Luke McKernan and Russell Smiley.

Marianne married the love of her life and her best friend, Daniel McKernan, on April 17, 1948, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Alta Dena, CA. They bought their first and only home at 757 Lope Lane Avenue in Glendora, CA in 1962, where they raised their two children. Despite the fact decades had passed since her husband's death, a day never went by that Marianne did not miss her beloved Dan and miss him dearly. Her greatest joys in life were her husband, her two children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her large extended family and her many life-long friendships. Marianne was also very active at St. Dorothy's Church and St. Lucy's Priory, both in Glendora, CA.

Marianne was always ready to help anyone in need and was a friend to everyone. She was truly a selfless person, always putting others first. Marianne was a great listener, so attentive and interested in whatever you had to share with her. She was a friend to everyone; her genuine sense of humor and friendly smile brightened the lives of everyone she met. Her life was filled with love, care, support and compassion. She was loved by everyone who ever met her or knew her.
In the words of Marianne's friends and family, some of her greatest qualities were her lust for life, and her honest and sincere interest in other people's lives. She is remembered as positive and encouraging. In her later years, despite the multitude of health issues, she remained upbeat and always determined to move forward, staying positive and motivated despite her limited extremely limited mobility and vision. Even though her body began to fail her, her mind and memory remained sharp until the end. Marianne's kindness and thoughtfulness touched so many lives during her almost 93 years. We cherish all the wonderful years we had with her and hold her close in our hearts forever.
