It is with the heaviest of hearts, that we announce that Maria Catherine Salgado, Born in the Philippines on May 24, 1979, passed on January 10, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.
Catherine is survived by her wife and bestfriend Cristina, her son Nathan; siblings Jacqueline (Jeevan), Francis (Krista). With her Grandparents, Siony and Enrique; Aunts, Cecile (Dennis), Corazon (Enrico), Uncles, Joaquin (Edna), Gary (Ghie), Eric (Carolle); and numerous relatives, loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Predeceased by her mother, Maria Theresa, and her aunt Maria Socorro.
Catherine, also known as " Mhay", was a simple woman who enjoyed spending her time close to home with her family and friends, particularly with her son Nathan and wife Cris. She loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining, travelling, and she had a great passion for the outdoors (Hiking).
She studied computer programming at BCIT in Vancouver,BC. Catherine was the Senior Programmer/Database Administrator at Tiger Tel Communications in Vancouver. Then, she became the Technology Operations Coordinator Project Manager at Top Producer Software in Richmond, BC., at the same time she was Software Engineer-QA at Clevest Solutions and Computer Analyst at Sage Software in Richmond,BC. when she moved to Los Angeles, she became the System Analyst with Beachbody,LLC in Santa Monica, California.
With her Love for Hiking, soon after her diagnosis, she founded "Walk with Me- The Healing Nature Project", L.A. based support group for people who have been diagnosed with serious illness but requires physical activity to get better. As well, with her love of photography, she founded and was the photographer of 'Faces of Cancer', it's a program she offered free of service to all cancer patients.
Our Family wishes to thank all family and friends who cared for her during her last few months, including her oncologist, doctors, CC nurses. We would like to thank you for your kindness and support. We are humbled by the care and compassion shown to us by all of you at Roze Room Hospice in California. Catherine's passing was one of love and peace. We thank you for making the last memory of her one of dignity and grace.
