Nuestra querida Madre, MarÃa Elizabeth Sánchez de Moreira falleció pacÃficamente el 28 de septiembre de 2020. Tuvo una vida maravillosa llena de amor. Nació el 2 de noviembre de 1929 en Chinandega, Nicaragua, era la hija menor del Maestro José Lázaro Sánchez y Lucila Somarriba de Sánchez. Su madre Lucila murió cuando MarÃa Elizabeth era una niña, por lo tanto, tuvo que soportar la separación familiar desde muy temprano en su vida.
Se graduó de Maestra de Educación Primaria en la Escuela Normal de Señoritas en Managua, Nicaragua. Después, vivió y trabajó en Chinandega en el Centro Escolar "Alberto Cabrales" donde conoció a su futuro esposo Humberto Moreira Benedith con quien se casó en 1950. Poco después, fueron bendecidos con su primera hija; Leonor Elizabeth. En total, de este matrimonio que podemos calificar de muy feliz, nacieron 9 hijos: tres mujeres y 6 varones.
Con el tiempo, la familia ha crecido a 17 nietos y 15 bisnietos, todos los cuales ella adoraba, y todos los que sin duda la han mantenido en alta estima. Le encantaba estar con su familia y pasar tiempo con sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos – cada generación tomaba las mismas directrices que los niños que venÃan antes.
Fue la incuestionable Matriarca de la familia. Incluso para los más jóvenes, era el conocimiento tribal saber quién estaba a cargo. Inculcó una tradición de firmeza, responsabilidad, honor y familia, con un rigor de mando respetuoso. Le gustaba jugar todo tipo de juegos con los niños y era una solucionadora de problemas fantástica. Aun en sus años 60s, continuó organizando reuniones y fiestas familiares con hasta 40 personas y las hacia con la coordinación de un maestro, sin tensión, sin ansiedad, y sin problemas. Debido a ella, la familia Moreira es conocida por ser muy unida y encontrar consuelo el uno en el otro. Su amor, carácter, integridad y guÃa serán profundamente extrañadas.
Una ávida jardinera, MarÃa Elizabeth y Humberto también siguieron su pasión por viajar visitando varios paÃses en busca de las mejores plantas, flores y árboles frutales para traer de vuelta a su pequeña granja y formando asi un exitoso negocio de horticultura. Trabajando hombro a hombro, lograron sacar adelante a su familia, a su mas preciado tesoro, sus hijos: todos graduados universitarios.
En los últimos años, MarÃa Elizabeth sufrió dos derrames cerebrales que le redujeron enormemente su movilidad. Fue amorosamente atendida y cuidada por sus hijos, especialmente Enrique, Lucy y Gloria Esperanza. En su última semana, sufrió un nuevo derrame cerebral del cual no sobrevivió. En paz, con buen espÃritu, sin dolor se convirtió en nuestro nuevo ángel.
Antes de ella, esperando la venida del Señor, están su esposo, su primera hija, sus padres, dos hermanas y un hermano. Ella será apreciada para siempre por sus hijos y sus cónyuges, Gloria Esperanza, Humberto, Gerardo José, Sergio Antonio, Oscar Eduardo, Julio Cesar, Enrique Xavier (Henry) y Lucila MarÃa (Lucy) Bird. MarÃa Elizabeth también será recordada cariñosamente por sus queridas amigas y numerosos amigos de la familia.
Los servicios conmemorativos que celebren su vida se organizarán el 21 de octubre a las 12:00 PM. El funeral será en Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, CA.

Our dear Mother, MarÃa Elizabeth Sanchez de Moreira passed peacefully on September 28th, 2020. She had a wonderful life filled with love. Born on November 2nd, 1929, in Chinandega, Nicaragua, she was the youngest daughter of Maestro Jose Lazaro Sanchez and Lucila de Sanchez. Her mother Lucila died when MarÃa Elizabeth was a little girl, hence she had to endure family separation.
She graduated as Elementary School Teacher from Escuela Normal de Senoritas in Managua, Nicaragua. Following college, she lived and worked in Chinandega where she met her future husband Humberto Moreira Benedith whom she married in 1950. After a honeymoon drive across Nicaragua, they returned to Chinandega and started a family. Shortly thereafter, they were blessed with her first daughter, Leonor Elizabeth. In total, of this marriage that we can call very happy, 9 children were born: three girls and six boys.
Over time, the family has grown to 17 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren, all of whom she adored, and all who have certainly held her in high esteem. She loved to be with her family and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren – each generation took the same directives as the kids that came before.
MarÃa Elizabeth has been the unquestionable family Matriarch. Even to the youngest, it was tribal knowledge knowing who was in charge. She instilled a tradition of toughness, accountability, faith and family, with a respectful rigor of command. She enjoyed playing any game with the kids, and was a fantastic problem solver. Well into her late 60s, she continued hosting family holidays most often with up to 40 people … and doing it with the coordination of a maestro, without tension, without anxiety, and without a hitch. Because of her, the Moreira family is renowned for being close knit, and finding comfort in each other. Her love, character, integrity and guidance will be deeply missed.
An avid gardener, Maria Elizabeth and Humberto also followed their passion for traveling visiting several countries in search of the best plants, flowers and fruit trees to bring back to their small farm and formed a successful horticulture business. Working shoulder to shoulder, they managed to promote their family, their most precious treasure, their children: all college and university graduates.
In the past few years she suffered two strokes to her brain. Since 2010 she was lovely and tenderly taken care of by her children, especially Enrique, Lucy and Gloria Esperanza. In peace, good spirit and no pain she became our newest angel.
Preceding MarÃa Elizabeth, waiting for the coming of our Lord, are her husband, her eldest daughter Leonor Elizabeth, her parents, one brother and two sisters. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her 8 children. She will be forever cherished by her children, their spouses and family, Gloria Esperanza, Humberto, Gerardo José, Sergio Antonio, Oscar Eduardo, Julio Cesar, Enrique Xavier (Henry) y Lucila MarÃa (Lucy) Bird. MarÃa Elizabeth will also be lovingly remembered by her numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be held on October 21st. at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, CA.
