Maria Amelia Valiente Leon

Maria Amelia Valiente Leon, also known as Mery  was a radiant spirit and beloved matriarch, passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 20, 1943, in Perico Matanzas, Cuba, Maria enriched the lives of those around her with her boundless love and unwavering kindness and joyful personality. 

Maria was a lover of life, radiating warmth and happiness wherever she went. Her extraordinary will to help her children was her super natural power.  She was a loyal friend, a helpful neighbor, and  a deeply passionate humanitarian. She was a truly admirable and gracious woman who was genuinely giving and kindhearted. 

A true connoisseur of beauty, she loved vibrant colors and always look fabulous & beautiful. She loved to stop and talk to everyone, that brought her joy and made her smile. Mom was smart, witty, vivacious and funny. She carried a great sense of humor and shared it abundantly with everyone. Mom was gracious like her mother and feisty like her father. Her parents taught her how to be strong in moments of difficulty and humble in times of trials and tribulations. She touched helpless hearts when she herself may have been struggling. Mom loved music, parties and danced nights away. Mom was a lover of life and it surely showed. 

Among her proudest accomplishments were becoming a devoted mother to three children—Rosario Rendo, Maria Jesus Rendo, and Joseph Rendo. She cherished each moment as a parent and found profound joy in nurturing, deeply loving them, protecting them and consoling them each and every step of life together. In addition to her role as a mother, she was deeply proud of becoming a U.S. citizen and relishing the opportunity to visit her beloved homeland of Perico Matanzas, Cuba, as often as she could. She so proudly was able to bring her parents Aurelio y Vicente Valiente to the US to visit and enjoy a little bit of the American dream. Maria also treasured her spiritual journey, receiving the sacraments of communion, confirmation, marriage,  Last Rites, which were significant milestones in her life.

Maria leaves behind her loving children, who will forever carry her legacy of love, light, and style in their hearts. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality and the happiness she brought to all who crossed her path.

A visitation in honor of Maria will take place on October 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Glendale, located at 1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205. A funeral service will follow on October 28, 2025, starting at 1:30 PM at the Church of the Recessional within the same location, concluding at 2:30 PM.

Maria Amelia Valiente Leon leaves a legacy of love, beauty, and an indomitable spirit that will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come.
