She is survived by her loving husband, Lucio Pazos, son, Gerson Pazos; son Heber Pazos; daughter Amy Pazos-Truong; son Jesse Pazos; 9 grandchildren; sister Rosa Cortez; sister Teresa Gordillo, sister Paz Romero, sister Emilia Rojas; and brother Roberto Santos.

Maria Luz Pazos was born Maria Luz Romero in Acajutla Sonsonate, El Salvador on January 15, 1957. Her parents were Maria Emilia Romero and Juan Jose Santos, may they rest in peace. Her parents were from Chalatenango, El Salvador.
At age 8, Luz contracted polio that took away her ability to walk. Miraculously she was healed. Her healing would have a significant impact on her outlook on life.
At sixteen, she decided to come to the United States of America. It was at Iglesia Canaan in South LA, CA that she met Lucio Pazos, a talented young musician aspiring to become a preacher.

She married Lucio Pazos on November 29, 1975. The following year they had their first born, Gerson Pazos. Soon after came Heber, Amy and as a surprise, Jesse. She was tough, brutally honest, compassionate, generous, and self-sacrificing when it came to her family. She was willing to do what needed to be done to help her family succeed.

Luz loved to cook and it was a joy for her to watch others enjoy her food. She loved to entertain during Thanksgiving and Christmas. She especially delighted in cooking dinners for the grandkids and big pancake breakfasts on the weekend. She had a very special relationship with each of her grandkids and they loved her immensely. She wanted nothing more than for the family to be together.

Throughout her life, Luz learned to lean on the Lord. She was actively involved at church supporting her husband and the ministry. It was at church that she met her life-long friends that she went on many adventures. She traveled throughout El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Italy, Greece, and Australia. Luz and Lucio also enjoyed traveling in the US to places like Alaska, Washington, Texas, Utah and Arizona.

Luz worked at Azusa Pacific University for 16 years. Luz was a believer in Jesus Christ and an active member at Grace Church of Glendora. She loved to cook for her family and grandchildren. No matter where she was, she loved to make people laugh and to host them in her home. She will be dearly missed by her family, church and work.

Luz passed away at San Dimas Community hospital on December 29, 2020 due to complications related to COVID-19. Luz lived a full and humble life surrounded by family and friends that will greatly miss her.
