Maria Ines Molina Mejia

April 22, 1938 — November 5, 2014

Maria Ines Molina Mejia, 76, born on April 22, 1938 in Guatemala City, Guatemala, passed away November 5, 2014. She resided in Los Angeles, California, at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California. Her Immediate family includes her spouse, Cesar Grussi Velasquez; daughter, Irma E. Velasquez (age 56); son, Renato Velasquez (age 46); and her granddaughters Irma Ivette Velasquez Pelesky (age 36) and Jennifer Pelesky Velasquez (Age 33).
Maria Ines, better known to family members as "Nesh", moved to Los Angeles from Guatemala City with her lifetime companion Cesar in 1966. As soon as she moved to the states, she did what she knew best which was to be a hard working home maker and a loving Mother. Ines loved being in the kitchen cooking her delicious Guatemalan dishes for her immediate family and always offered to visitors. She was very well known for her Guatemalan tamales in which she made large amounts for Christmas so she could keep several in stock for her and her family, but also gave these to other family members as gifts. Eventually, her tamales became very popular and people would place order requests well in advance for the holidays. Her and Cesar would spend hours and days cooking hundreds of tamales to Perfection. If you asked any family member and family friend, the consensus would be that Nesh's tamales were the best in town. After living in Hollywood for close to 23 years, the family moved to Atwater Village, better known as Silverlake area. This is where Ines truly made her house a home. Family members and friends who visited frequently were always offered food that she cooked for the day, but more importantly they were always made to feel welcomed. For each holiday, Ines was passionate in cooking her seasonal dishes that pertained to that holiday. Many times, she would make large amounts of food for those specific holidays and unselfishly by sending people home with leftovers.
Ines was very much a happy and loving person. She was also loved by many people and always made friends wherever she went, such as the grocery stores, banks, the bus, church, and especially in the neighborhood.
