Maria Luz Mendoza, 86, born on April 13, 1934, in Guatemala City , Guatemala, passed away October 22, 2020. She arrived in the US in 1957 to work as a domestic servant. In the 1960s and 70s she worked for television station KTTV, radio stations KBIG and KALI, and the Screen Actors Guild. In 1982 she took a job with Pasadena Municipal services as a customer service representative, retiring in 2004. Along the way she became a US citizen in 1999. Maria was always interested in learning about other cultures and enjoyed attending festivals where she could appreciate the different dances, costumes and foods from around the world. She was proud to have succeeded in her pursuit of the American dream but her native country was always in her heart. She resided in Rancho Cucamonga, CA at the time of her passing.
