Maria Teodora Medina

On the evening of Good Friday, April 15th, 2022, Maria Teodora Medina departed at her home at the age of 89 years old. In 1933, Maria Teodora was born in Bariometo, Sinaloa, Mexico to Carlos and Maria Jacobo. She was the youngest of 11 children. Maria met her late husband, Alfonso Medina at a young age; both attended the same elementary school. In 1976, she traveled to Los Angeles with her children to reunite with her husband who was working in the U.S. to provide for their family. She did not know the language or culture, but the love of family empowered her to pursue a better future. Maria was a woman of faith, teacher's-aide, seamstress, cook, knitter, and gracious mother to her children and grandkids. She is survived by her 10 children — Juan Manuel Medina, Luis Alfonso Medina, Jesus Angel Medina, Martha Alicia Estrada, Laura Elena Hercules, Adela Medina, Carlos Enrique Medina, Rosa Irene Estorga, Maria Magdalena Trujillo, Lisette Duarte, 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Maria Medina departed surrounded by her children, who loved her dearly. She will be missed and remembered by those who knew her closely. She will never be forgotten.
