Maria Velina Matulac

Maria (Maring / Nanay Maring / Inay / Mommy) Velina Matulac was born on September 10, 1937 in Cuenca Batangas, Philippines.  She passed away peacefully at the Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, CA on November 26, 2023 @ 12:39 AM with her daughter Geline and son-in-law Raymond on her side.

Meyong (Clemencio) & Maring (Maria) were married on April 5, 1955 at Cuenca Batangas.  Meyong a police officer and Maria a teacher, both have a daughter Virgelina (Geline).  For 31 years of living a good life together in the Philippines, opportunity came for Meyong to migrate to the United States in 1986. And was later on joined by Geline in 1988, and lastly joined by his loving wife Maring in 1989.  Maring was a babysitter to many like Irene, Sherman, Katelin, Alexis, & Connor to name a few with the loving care and affection of a grandmother.

Maring have enjoyed life travelling around the world with family, relatives and friends.  Toured most Asian, European, Mediterranean and Middle East countries.

Maring's favorite past time was playing mahjong, the most competitive and hard to beat player with her usual 7 pair win. Maring likes playing than sleeping, she'll play till the wee hours.  It's not about the winning that kept her awake & actively playing but it's the company of friends.

During Maring's last few years and days she's been sick with kidney disease, diabetes, and congestive heart failure.  She's having dialysis treatment few days a week.  Even though she has the will to successfully battle all the treatments, her body was so weak and eventually given up. She fought really hard to survive until the end.

Maring will surely be missed as a sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother (to nieces, nephews & babysitted kids), aunt and a friend.
