Maria Cristina Guerrero

June 15, 1960 — December 29, 2020

Maria Cristina Monasterial Guerrero, 60, passed away unexpectedly from COVID-19 on December 29th 2020.

She was the second child of Mario and Felipa Monasterial born on June 15, 1960, in Balic-Balic, Sampaloc, Manila – more specifically in Anzures St. endearingly called "likod ng Tukmo" by the residents of Anzures.

Cristy graduated with high honors from Holy Trinity Academy, from elementary to high-school. Earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from St. Paul's College – Manila.

Her talents were rarely still. She was a dancer, singer, and a cheer leader in high school. She was an avid "Atoy Co" fan, a Filipino Basketball Star, during the Crispa-Toyota days. She cheered for him as a young teenager and was so heartbroken when her team lost. For many years, she sang and performed with her band "The First Born Child" in the late 70s - 80s with her late husband Michael
"Red" Guerrero. They travelled side-by-side reaching Finland, Japan, Macau, Singapore, Thailand and more while sharing their passion for performing together.

Red and Cristy's performing days transitioned to a more family-focused life once they came to know the Lord while visiting a church during one of their trips overseas. She worked at E-Commerce Philippines and Clinica Manila as administrative manager while serving as a Pastor's wife at their church plant Bible Way Baptist Church in Cubao, Quezon City Philippines. She was well loved and respected by her colleagues and church family even after she immigrated to the United States.

In the US, Cristy continued to serve the Lord at a local church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and in Corona, California. She continued to use her gift for singing by participating in the church choir together with her husband, Red. She worked as a banker for Citibank and Bank of America, respectively, for a total of 18 years.

Cristy's lighthearted character showed through even during the most difficult times. She was a supportive and understanding wife, a loving and nurturing mom, a second mom to her nieces and nephews, a sweet little sister to Myrna (deceased) - the one who spoiled the little brother Joel who is now the only surviving member of the Monasterial family.

She is survived by her only child, Maria Rebecca "Mikki" Guerrero, who now resides in Riverside California.

Her life was a living example of what it meant to be a servant for others. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
