Maria Guadalupe Michel Boone

December 5, 1922 — October 30, 2015

Maria Guadalupe Michel Boone, 92, born on December 5, 1922 in Ejutla, Mexico, passed away October 30, 2015 in Glendale, California.

Internment at San Fernando Mission Cemetery on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at 11 am. 11160 Stranwood Avenue, Mission Hills.

She taught university in Colima, Mexico, then came to the US just before World War II. Even though she was an accomplished seamstress that would do the finishing beadwork on couture wedding gowns, she supported the war effort by working in factories sewing sacks for provisions. She met her husband and love of her life Juan (John) in San Francisco in 1954. They married, moved to Los Angeles, and had two daughters, Patricia and Margarita. Lupe was fortunate to travel to many interesting places - Russia, South America, Europe, and of course, Mexico, to stay connected to her friends, neighbors and former students in Colima. She is survived by her beloved Juan, (Chanito, Jacinto Eulogio) from Glendale, as well as her two daughters. Mom always had nice things to say about everyone, always "bien y de buenas" as she liked to put it. Loved listening to music from Los Panchos to Andrea Bocelli. Had her go-to greetings for everyone, whether it was "good morning" in Russian or Mandarin. People were always impressed, but we said, that's ALL she knows how to say in Russian or Mandarin.... Made her young daughters stay indoors during the summer months while all the other kids were outside playing. But we were learning how to read and write Spanish and practice our penmanship, things that we are thankful for to this day. Mom had a great garden and loved plants and flowers. She grew fruit trees in her yard in Glendale, persimmon, guava, plum, mango, citrus, nopal..... She was able to grow a gigantic mango tree in her home in Glendale, started from seed. Who knew mangoes grew... in Glendale? She was our beloved flower and is now resting in peace, no more pain, no more fear.
