It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Socorro Galvez, who left us on May 20, 2026, in Atwater Village. Born on October 20, 1945, in El Sauz, Jalisco, Mexico, Socorro came to the United States at the age of 18 with hope and determination. She immediately began working full-time, dedicating thirty years of hard work and persistence with grace and strength. Even after her formal career ended, Socorro’s commitment did not waver. She continued to labor tirelessly as a homemaker, nurturing her family through her cooking, cleaning, and the warmth she infused into every corner of her home. Her kitchen was legendary; her delicious meals were not just food but a symbol of her love, and her family treasured every bite.
Socorro’s spirit was fun-loving, sweet, and generous. She was the heart of every gathering and the beloved aunt whose hugs and kisses felt like the safest place in the world. Those closest to her will remember her as everyone’s favorite aunt, a woman whose joy and kindness brightened the lives of all she encountered. A devoted Dodgers fan, she never missed a game, cheering passionately and sharing her enthusiasm with those around her.
Her Sundays often found her at the casino, delighting in the simple pleasure of playing slots, a small but cherished hobby that brought her joy and helped weave countless memories. More than anything, however, Socorro was deeply religious, a steadfast supporter of the Catholic Church, and a living testament to faith in action. Her life was a continual expression of God’s love through comforting words, unyielding faith, and a heart full of compassion.
Socorro was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and sister who leaves behind a legacy of kindness and unconditional. She is survived by her loving children: Maribel, Adrian. and Jose Juan; her treasured grandchildren: Adrian Jr., Alesia, and Julian; and her dear sisters Maria and Lupe.
Our hearts ache with the loss of Socorro, a woman who gave so much of herself to others, whose presence was a blessing and whose absence leaves a profound void. Her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her family and friends. The love Socorro shared with us all continues to give strength and hope, and we find comfort in knowing she has reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Salvador.
As we gather to celebrate Socorro’s beautiful life and bid farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, we are comforted by the warmth of her memory and the countless ways she touched our hearts. Her loving spirit will forever enrich the lives of those who knew her, a radiant example of kindness, faith, and unwavering devotion. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Following her family's tradition, Socorro will be laid to rest along side her husband at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
