Maria Sabangan Delizo

Born on November 5th, 1914 in San Carlos, Pangasinan. She was the 5th child of Raphael and Inocencia Sabangan. She was wed to Regino Delizo Sr. and together had four wonderful children; Lily, Renicolas, Regino Jr., and Corazon. The eldest Mrs. Lily Berbano a pharmacist, Renicolas who became a lawyer, Regino Jr. a doctor of medicine, and Corazon Aquino a registered nurse. Maria and the Delizo family are blessed with 23 grand children. Maria joins her husband Regino Sr. and two sons Renicolas and Regino Jr. in the grace of our Father.

During World War II the family lived in San Carlos City where Regino Jr. was born. After the war the family lived in San Jose Nueva Ecija where she had a textile business. In 1952 Maria joined her husband in the province of Isabella. Her husband Regino Sr. was appointed by Philippine President Quirino with the title of First Deputy Governor of Qurino Provence. She remained faithfully by his side during his term, supporting him, raising their family, and running her own business. In Isabella she had a thriving palay and corn business. She was remembered as a disciplinarian and very hard working.

Maria's legacy includes caring for her children in Manila while they were studying at University. She extended her care to her nieces, nephews, and other relatives in Sampaloc, Manila helping them to graduate. Ninety percent of the children in her care became professionals and eighty percent have immigrated to the United States.

Maria Sabangan Delizo, at the age of 98 interned with our Father on August 30th in Corona, California.

Dearly beloved mother, grand mother, great grandmother. Thank you for your many years with us. We were blessed to have you and your memory will live on with those you have touched.
