Maria Canedo, affectionately known as Chonita, passed away on August 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth will forever be cherished by her family and friends. was born on July 13, 1947, in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico, and her light continued to shine until the end.
Maria was a remarkable woman who always held her family close to her heart. She adored time with her loved ones, constantly seeking opportunities to celebrate her children and grandchildren. Her kind and welcoming nature made everyone feel special in her presence, and she had a unique ability to see the good in people, spreading joy wherever she went.
Maria was known for her love of red lipstick and headbands, which added flair to her already vibrant personality. She found solace in music and enjoyed watching novelas, immersing herself in stories of love and drama. Her passion for cooking and homemaking was evident to all who knew her, as she effortlessly created delicious meals and maintained a welcoming home for her family.
In the hearts of her family, Maria will forever be remembered as a caring and loving mother to Lupita, Juan, Mario, Milton, and Melina. She was a beloved mother-in-law to Miguel, Lucy, and Pedro, and a doting grandmother to Damian, Diego, Isabella Maureen, Sarah, Isabella Maria, Sophia, Daniella, Peter Jr., Marcos, Ariana, Chloe, Emilio, and Sebastian.
Maria's vibrant spirit was nurtured by her upbringing and cherished memories with her late father, Nicolas Luna, her mother, Angela Canedo, her late sister, Ramona Canedo, her brother, Humberto Luna, her late sister, Concepcion Canedo, her late sister, Maria de Jesus Luna, and her cousin, Eloisa Silva. She is also survived by her sisters and brother, Estela Mayer, Teresa Morales, Angela Plazola, Guadalupe Luna, and Nicolas Luna.
A service to honor Maria's life will be held on September 7, 2024, at the Forest Lawn - Covina Hills - Church of our Heritage in Covina, CA. The funeral service is scheduled from 2:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and celebrate the beautiful life of Maria Canedo, a woman who brought light and love to all who knew her.
Maria's memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, her love, and her unwavering spirit. She will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love that she so freely gave to others.
