Blanquita, lovingly known to most as "Grandma," passed away on May 22, 2026, in Rialto, California. Born on August 21, 1934, in San Juan Opico, El Salvador, she carried the warmth and soul of her homeland with her throughout her life, becoming a beacon of love and strength to her family and community.
Blanquita was much more than a mother and grandmother; she was a sanctuary—a safe place and a loving home for many. Her nurturing spirit extended well beyond the walls of her home, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She is lovingly remembered by her four children: Carlos Parada Ayala, Janet Santos, Manuel Mendez Ayala and Blanquita Mendez Ayala. Her family blossomed further with the additions of daughters-in-law Lidia V-Mendez and Laura Worby, who were cherished members of her life’s story.
Her legacy lives on vibrantly through her eleven grandchildren: Julissa Sparks, Emmanuel Mendez, William Mendez, Jaanai Mendez, Kiarah Mendez, Anissa Mendez, Celia Parada Worby, Laila Parada Worby, Mercedes Garay, Blanca Romero, and Rocio Santos. Each of them carries forward her spirit of kindness, resilience, and devotion. The great light of her life also included seventeen great-grandchildren: Gage Mendez, Sophie Sparks, Aidan Sparks, Meelah Mendez, Jaxson Sparks, Layla Carrillo, Oshen Mendez, Rome Mendez, Nico Gadelha, Carlos Garay, Ivan Garay, Abraham Romero, Kayla Romero, Sebastian Romero, Nikolai Benitez, Luca Benitez and one great-great granddaughter Eden Celeste Garay. They are living reminders of the love Blanquita poured into her family, a love that now transcends generations.
Blanquita’s life will be honored at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills in Covina, California. A rosary will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 10:00 AM followed by the viewing at 11:00 AM, providing an intimate opportunity for family and friends to gather. This will lead into the funeral service taking place at the Church of Our Heritage at Forest Lawn, at 2:00 PM, where loved ones can celebrate her life, her indelible impact on their lives, and the profound void she leaves behind.
In remembering Blanquita, those who knew her will forever cherish her as a pillar of love and comfort, a guiding light and a steadfast presence in the lives she touched. Her spirit will continue to nourish the hearts of her family —an everlasting testament to the beauty of her soul. May she rest in peace, forever embraced by the love she so freely gave.
