Marguerite Isabelle Malouf

Marguerite I. Malouf, was born July 5, 1925 in Paris France. She was a teenager during the German (Nazi) occupation. During the war, her two oldest brothers went into the French underground and her father spent seven years in a concentration camp because he had been a Spanish political dissident under Franco's rule. It was a tough childhood for Marguerite - with younger siblings, bread rationing and a father away from home.

In 1951 when she fell in love with American Navy veteran Jubert G. Malouf, he proposed and they were married in Paris. He wanted to go back to America but on the way they lived in Spain and Morocco where she gave birth to daughters Cindy and Juanita. Her third daughter, Pamela, was born in Reseda, CA in 1956. Marguerite loved the San Fernando Valley and spent the next 50 years there. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, seamstress, sewing her children clothes, serving as a Camp Fire Girl leader and later began working as a Retail Clerk at first in Marina Del Rey at Boy's Market and then at Gelson's supermarket in Encino. In 2004 she moved to Eugene, Oregon where she passed away from complications of the flu on January 21, 2013. She will be sorely missed. Graveside services will be Feb. 14, 3pm at Forrest Lawn, Hollywood Hills. She is survived by her three daughters, their spouses, one granddaughter, Alix and a great grandson, Ethan, as well as several nephews and a niece.
