Colonel Margaret Patricia Phillips, 94, born on June 23, 1923, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away November 19, 2017. She resided in Claremont, California at the time of her passing, where she had lived since May of 2014. Margaret served in the Army Nurse Corps for thirty-three years. She served in WWII in Japan. After the war, she was stationed in Munich, and went on to serve in Vietnam and Korea. She ended her career at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, where she was Chief Nurse. Margaret blazed a trail for women in the military and created and sustained many friendships over the years. Her favorite quote was from a poem by Edward Markham. "There is a destiny that makes us brothers, none goes his way alone, that which we put into the life of others, comes back into our own."
