Margaret Lucille Oliver

Margaret Lucille Oliver, 90, born on September 16, 1922, in Norfolk, Nebraska, passed away July 20, 2013. She resided in Long Beach, California at the time of her passing.

Margaret Lucille was the second child of Lydia and Warren Beeler. She was a proud member of the Norfolk High School Class of 1940. She left home to seek her fortune in New York and joined the SPARS, the women's coast guard. After traveling the county in the SPARS, she joined the Navy Reserve where she met her future husband William, married in 1952, and continued to travel the county as a Navy wife. She settled in Long Beach, California in 1970 and into her longtime residence in Belmont Heights in 1975. In addition to raising her children, she was involved in a variety of activities including cake decorating, senior band, working with her brother, Ed, and working as an accountant at Best Foot Forward shoes. In her later years, she was involved in activities at the Long Beach Senior Center.

She is survived by her husband, William; her children, Debby and Dave; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Anna, Ryan, and Rachel; great grandchildren, Kaydin, Chris and Cory; and a number of other relatives and close friends. Special thanks goes out to Yvonne Monk who was a friend and caregiver to her over the last few years of her life.

A Celebration of Margaret's Life will be held on Saturday Aug. 17 from 1-4 at the Eagle's Nest at the Seal Beach Golf Course, 5660 Orangewood Ave., Cypress, Ca 90630. Donations may be sent in lieu of flowers. Suggested charities are the Salvation Army or the American Heart Association (see links in the margin). Flowers may be delivered or brought to the Eagle's Nest on the day of the service. In honor of Margaret's love of bright colors, attendees are requested to dress colorfully.
