Marcus Richard Howard passed away in the presence of family on March 21, 2017 in St. George, Utah. Born at the Physicians & Surgeons Hospital, Glendale, California. He was the eldest son of Marcus Stuart & Helen Young Howard. A grandson of Dr. John FitzAlan & Drucilla Howard and Earl Shephard & Myrtle Young. Mark's family includes brothers & sisters: Marlene J. Warme, Carolyn M. Wukelich, Craig M. Howard, Deborah E. Cameron, Kenneth S. Howard, Winnifred K. Westwood and many other loved ones.
He was born during the historic period of WWII, when his mother, a "Rosie the Riveter," worked for Vultee Aircraft. He attended schools in L.A & Glendale, CA graduating from Herbert Hoover High School, where he competed in track and other sports. He earned a B.S in Independent Studies. Always learning he continued taking courses in Law and was working toward a M.A. in Management.
He was a proud boy scout and earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Mark served a 2-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Central States Mission serving as District Leader.
Drafted during the Vietnam Era, he was sent to the DMZ in Korea; a member of the 7th Infantry division, 3rd Brigade, 13th Engineer Combat Battalion. Mark received assignment as a Chaplain's Assistant working with various faiths. He was honorably discharged from active duty and later served with the California and Utah National Guard where he retired in 2002 as Staff Sargent.
Marcus worked for the US Postal Service retiring in 2012 after 32 years. Hobbies & Interests included: Bowling, reading good books and military history. He enjoyed collecting old cars he called "Rust Buckets." He will be remembered as trustworthy, loyal, helpful… He truly lived the Eagle Scout Motto.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS & INTERNMENT AT THE FAMILY PLOT SITE (Eternal Love) at 11:00am, Thursday March 30, 2017 at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills. Family & friends may attend the viewing 5-9 pm, Wednesday March 29 at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills.
