Manuela Lopez De Hernandez

Manuela Lopez De Hernandez was born on August 27, 1943, in Sauces, Durango, Mexico. She passed away peacefully on August 13, 2013, at Los Alamitos Medical Center. "Nellie", as all her friends & family called her, resided in Hawaiian Gardens, CA, since 1967. She is survived by 6 daughters whom she loved very much. She was the youngest of all her sisters and brothers. She was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Nellie was an excellent seamstress and made lots of dresses (without sewing patterns) for her girls during their school years. She also crocheted ponchos and kitchen "limpiadores" beautifully. She was a great cook including making the best fried chicken ever. She was a hard worker.
Nellie carried this work ethic with her to her job at Katella Manor where she worked in Food Service for 10 years. She had that special gift it takes to work with (and serve) the elderly. She had lots of friends there, both co-workers and residents.
In 2009, after attending citizenship preparation classes on her own, Nellie became a US citizen. This was an achievement she was proud of but very modest about. Nellie also loved music and loved to dance. She was loved by so many. She will be missed...every day.
