Manuel Pizano

Manuel Pizano went to eternal rest on July 24, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Manuel was born to Pedro and Rosa Pizano on January 14, 1934 in Indio, Ca. He graduated from CVHS, attended College of the Desert and University of Riverside. He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.
Manuel was a Fire Captain with the City of Indio and retired after 28 years. Before his illness, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed volunteering as a Marshall at many of the local professional tournaments such as the Bob Hope Classic and Dinah Shore. He was a Director of the Indio Jr. Golf program at Indio Muni for many years and also served on the original board of the Desert Junior Golf Association.

He married Stella Burrell Pizano on July 12, 1959 in Coachella, and recently celebrated their 56 years of marriage. His survivors include his wife Stella Pizano, daughter Melissa Pizano-Grunnet, son in law Tom Grunnet, son Mark Pizano and three grandchildren, Shelby Pizano, Brock Pizano and Tyler Grunnet. who were the sunshine in his life, He is also survived by sister Elena Villegas of Apple Valley, Ca., brother Pete Pizano of Thermal, Ca., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jesse Pizano.

All services will be held August 4, 2015 under the direction of Forest Lawn. Viewing and Rosary will be held at the Forest Lawn Chapel in Indio at 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM, followed by Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Military gravesite services will follow at the Coachella Valley Cemetery with a reception at the American Legion Hall immediately after.
