Manuel Hernandez Salas

Manuel Hernandez Salas, a beloved patriarch  passed from this world on December 27, 2024. Born on April 5, 1948 in SIN, Mexico, Manuel was known not only for his unabashed honesty, but also for his colorful sense of humor. 

He was a not much of a scholar, lovingly dismissing himself as "the dumb kid," yet he built a robust life filled with stories and laughter, creating a safe haven for his family. Though Manuel’s formal education may have lacked honors, he commanded wisdom in the lessons he imparted. 

He instilled a joy that manifested in the heart of his family, which includes his cherished wife, Ramona Hernandez, and his daughter, Olivia Martinez Hernandez. His spirit will forever echo in the lives of his grandchildren: Veronica Martinez, Jessica Martinez Stevens, Mario Quezada, Angel Quezada, Armando Martinez, Mark Patton, and Heavenly Patton, as well as his seven great-grandchildren.

Baseball was a family affair for Manuel, a passion that transcended generations. The moments spent coaching, umpiring, or simply watching his next generations step up to the plate, became rituals that bonded the family. 

Manuel is preceded in death by—his beloved mother, Francisca Hernandez Salas; daughters Araceli Quezada Hernandez and Lizett Hernandez; sisters Concha Hernandez Silva and Ofelia Hernandez; brothers Gonzalo Hernandez Salas, Oscar Hernandez Salas, and Irame Hernandez Salas. 

In a tribute to this remarkable life, visitation services will be held on January 8, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Cypress, 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA 90630. The celebration of his illustrious life will continue with a funeral service on January 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the same location, where friends and family are encouraged to gather and share their favorite memories of Manuel.

The lessons, the stories, the jokes, and the metaphors will live on in our memories.
