Lynn Eidsness, 89, of Huntington Beach, CA died Friday September 15, 2017.
Lynn Jerome Eidsness was born to Trygve and Bertha Eidsness on November 20,
1927 in Hetland, South Dakota. Lynn grew up on a farm with his two sisters and a
younger brother where he developed his strong connection to farming and pride of
his Norwegian heritage that he maintained throughout his lifetime. Lynn graduated
from Hetland High School and continued farming and wiring farmhouses in the area.
He married Joanne Mattson of Arlington, SD, December 17, 1950 and remained
married for 53 years until her passing in 2003. Shortly after their marriage, Lynn
was drafted into the Army where he served our country overseas in South Korea
during the Korean War from 1951 â 1953. Upon his return to SD, Lynn and Joanne
farmed on land south of Erwin. Their first child, Marly, was born in 1954. In 1957
the family moved to Long Beach, CA, to be closer to Joanne's family. In 1960, Lynn
and Joanne welcomed their second daughter, Carolyn. Lynn used his many
mechanical and electrical skills in work over the years in Los Angeles, the City of
Long Beach, the 3M Company, and finally his own Eidsness Garage Door business in
Orange County, CA. Throughout his life, Lynn was a devout Christian and an active
member of his church, serving as treasurer, deacon, or elder, at Parkcrest Church of
Christ, Creekside Christian Fellowship, and First Christian Church of Huntington
Beach. For many years, Lynn enjoyed an annual hunting trip to Colorado or Canada,
and he was an avid car enthusiast, restoring several vintage cars in his garage. When
his garage door was open, his neighbors all knew they could stop by for a visit or ask
for help with household or car repairs.
Lynn is survived by daughters Marly Eidsness and Carolyn Lombardi (Michael) and
grandsons Sean Scott and Bryce Lombardi, and his brother Warren Eidsness. Lynn
was preceded in death by his wife Joanne and two sisters, Doris Anderson and Inez
Zinter.
Funeral services for Lynn will be at 2 pm on Thursday, September 21, at Forest
Lawn, Cypress in the Church of Our Fathers with minister Roger Beard officiating.
Interment to follow with military honors in the Sheltering Trees area.
