Lydia Lorraine Holloway

December 21, 1941 — July 17, 2014

Lydia Lorraine Holloway, 72, born on December 21, 1941 in Blue Island, Illinois, passed away July 17, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zelmer and Flo (Hawkins) Davis. Also her older sister, Louise (Davis) Rounds.

Lorraine was raised in Omaha, NE, where she graduated from South High School. While working in the office of a Chemical Corp. in Omaha, she met her husband to be, Gilbert 'Doug' Holloway. They were married May 4, 1962. Very soon after that, they moved to their forever home of CA. They had two children, a daughter, Laura S. Holloway Blair, and a son Bryan D. Holloway, both of Cypress, CA.

During her life, Lorraine loved being a stay at home Mom with all that was entailed, even making Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Jam Short-breads. She attended Cypress College and loved it. Following that, she worked for the Boys and Girls Club of Cypress, in which she truly enjoyed. Her one hobby that she loved was Tennis. For a time she played until it was no longer possible. When she couldn't play anymore, it was her joy to watch Tennis Matches on television, even through all of her problems with her many illness' of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Diabetes and finally Cancer.

Lorraine had a long tough road with her colon cancer after being diagnosed in January of 2011. She fought a hard battle, with the support of her family. She had asked and did go home for her final days, in which her family made her as comfortable as possible. She went peacefully, with her family by her side. She truly was blessed with a loving husband and family. Lorraine showed kindness to every one she met, and always would tell you she's just fine, even though she might be struggling at the moment.

Lorraine and Doug loved to travel. They made several trips to South America, with Rio being their favorite. They also loved to travel around the U.S. and made lots of road trips with the entire family. They often went to Las Vegas to enjoy the shows, food and a little play. Lorraine was never a gambler, but loved the trip to get away to Vegas.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Gilbert Douglas 'Doug' Holloway, her daughter, Laura Susan Holloway Blair, her son, Bryan Douglas Holloway, all of Cypress, California. Her younger sister, Mary Ann Davis Binder. Five nephews, Scott and Craig Binder of Fort Collins, CO and Jason Binder of Lakewood, CA. Richard of San Diego, CA and Curtis Rounds of Council Bluffs, IA. Her brother and sister in law, Harold and Karen Holloway along with their children, Michael, Richard, Steven Holloway and Julie Holloway Larsen. Many cousins.

Lorraine will be missed more than words can say, but she will forever be in our hearts. When Lorraine passed away I told people my head knows she is in a much better place but my heart hasn't caught up to that idea yet. Rest in Peace our Dear Sweet Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Cousin.

She resided in Cypress, California at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
