Lydia Del Mundo Herrmann

February 2, 1950 — February 24, 2021

Lydia del Mundo Herrmann, 71, passed away on February 24th, 2021 after, being diagnosed in September 2020, living with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Born on February 2nd, 1950, to Hermogenes "Ama" and Maria "Inay" del Mundo and raised in Indang, Cavite, Philippines, Lydia immigrated to the United States in 1978 and resided in Los Angeles county ever since. She earned her bachelor's degree in Secretarial Science at Philippine Union College, worked at Philippine Publishing House as a secretary, worked at a dentist office in LA, an office doing office work, then became a homemaker after the birth of her first daughter.

A devout Seventh-day Adventist, Lydia was a member of Glendale SDA, Hollywood SDA, Norwalk SDA, Desert Hot Springs SDA, and for the past seven years a member of the Inter Valley SDA Church in Azusa. She served as treasurer of the Indang Cavite Association of Southern California and was the matriarch of the del Mundo family since the passing of her mother in 2005. Throughout her life, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and aunt, and in her final months, she was surrounded by constant love from her family, nephews and nieces, sisters and brothers, in-laws, cousins, classmates, church members, and friends and took great pride in her network of support. She was a "second mom" to many and treated everyone she met with hospitality, motherly love, a welcoming smile, delicious cooking, and showed her care to her loved ones in all the details: holiday greeting cards, birthday presents, welcome gifts, pasalubong, a favorite meal, a handmade scarf. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Philip Herrmann; daughters Katherine (Minsu) Herrmann, Elizabeth Herrmann, and Karen (Sergio Onate) Herrmann Onate; siblings Nanding (Glo) del Mundo, Lito (Myrna) del Mundo, and Elizabeth (Joey Lozano) del Mundo; along with nephews and nieces. Lydia is at rest now, and lives on in our hearts; we will meet her again.

Please direct condolences to Jim Herrmann. If you would like to record a short video tribute to be shared in a virtual memorial of Lydia's life, please upload the video file to your Google Drive and share it with jeditrixter@gmail.com.
