Lydia Lopez Cabel was born on September 14, 1938, in Manila, Philippines. She passed away on October 13, 2024 in Eagle Rock, California - A beloved matriarch whose spirit will continue to resonate through the lives she touched.

Lydia will be remembered for her radiant smile and contagious laughter. Her adventurous spirit invited those around her to celebrate life's simple pleasures to create lasting memories.  In times of sorrow, Lydia would have wanted us to reflect on these bright moments, embodying the joy she brought to our lives. Her death represents a scholar of life well-lived, embraced by the values of love and joy that she cherished deeply.

The love and dedication Lydia exhibited throughout her life, live on in her surviving family. She is loving remembered by her daughter, Mariejoy “Jojo” Cabel, and grandson, Lucas Cabel Nelson. Her surviving siblings, Cesar Q. Lopez and his wife Mila C. Lopez, and Jack Q. Lopez and his wife Marcelina B. Lopez. Lydia is also survived by her brother-in-law, Paul A. Cabel and his wife Nelfa Cabel.

Lydia’s extended family includes a multitude of relatives and friends who were illuminated by her warm spirit and joy of life.  She enjoyed your visits, prayers and love:  Dr. Andrea Ruiz, Dr. Abraham Ruiz, Liza De Petrillo, Arthur Lopez, Gloria Lopez, Adrienne Kelly, Blessie Ballar, Ed Ballar, Millie Lopez Snyder, Keith Snyder, Jensen Snyder, Dexter Nino Lopez, Patrick Lopez, Ilona Lopez, Triston Lopez, Landon Lopez, Marco Cabel, Monette Cabel, Blessie Alicante and Rosie Sacro.  Dear friends from near and far including: Joyce Gonzales, Josie Gonzales, Elizabeth Apilado, Alice & Tito Molina, Yollie & Fred Sinson, and Kathleen & Manuel Santoyo were by her bedside offering much needed cheer and prayers.  Of course Lydia’s beloved St. Ignatius community were also faithfully by her side, including Lorna & Jess Tapang, Linda Herrera, Rosalie Valencia, Emy Zenty, Adrienne Hament, Vivian and Robert Aguilar, and many others. Each person had a special place in Lydia’s heart, and the outpouring of love and kindness was a true blessing during this time.

Lydia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eddie A. Cabel, who passed on October 13, 2017. We are positive that their enduring love and unwavering bond will continue throughout time.

Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to join together to honor Lydia’s memory during the visitation services, scheduled for November 5, 2024, at Forest Lawn - Glendale - Church of the Recessional from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on November 6, 2024, at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church located at 6024 Terrace Drive, Los Angeles, CA, starting at 9:00 AM and concluding at 11:00 AM.

As we come together to celebrate Lydia's extraordinary life, we hold close to our hearts her wish for us to find joy amid sorrow and to embrace the warmth of our shared memories. In the spirit of remembrance, we can comfort ourselves with the promise of new beginnings and the everlasting bond of love that connects us all.
