It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Luzviminda Cruz Alcaide, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Born on December 19, 1954, in the Philippines, Luz lived a life steeped in love, service, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She departed this world peacefully in California on September 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will forever resonate with those fortunate enough to know her.
With over thirty years of service as a social worker, Luz committed her life to helping others. Her vocation was not merely a career but a calling, where she tirelessly advocated for the vulnerable and offered her unwavering support to those in need. As a proud graduate of Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Philippines, her educational background provided a strong foundation, which she built upon with relentless passion and dedication throughout her professional life.
Luz’s life was a testament to the values she held dear. A devout Catholic, she embraced her faith with fervor, finding solace in prayer and community. Yet, it was within the warmth of her family where she truly found her joy. Luz adored her husband Emilio, who stood by her side through thick and thin.
Her proudest accomplishments were her children: Conrad, Vincent, and Emilu. With affectionate pride, she often spoke of her children as the greatest gifts in her life. As a grandmother to Ethan and Emma, Luz’s heart expanded even further. Her love knew no bounds and was reflected in the bonds she forged with each family member.
Avid traveler at heart, Luz cherished the experiences and adventures that journeying brought her. Through her travels, she collected memories that not only enriched her own life but also served as stories to inspire those around her.
As we prepare to honor her remarkable life, a visitation will take place at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills on October 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the Church of Our Heritage at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills on October 8, 2025, at 9:30 AM. Luz leaves behind a nurturing legacy defined by love, faith, and an indomitable spirit. She will be profoundly missed, yet her memory will continue to illuminate the paths of those she touched.
