Lupe Karady

May 13, 1944 — February 27, 2026

Lupe Karady, 81, born May 13, 1944 to Aristeo Gutierrez and Carlota Gallegos Gutierrez, in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, passed away on February 27, 2026. She was residing in Azusa, California at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn in Covina Hills, California.

Lupe was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a loving and devoted wife for 30 years to her late husband, Laszlo Karady (Les Karady). Her family was always the center of her life, and she took great pride in her home and her children.

After becoming widowed, she became a full time caregiver to her son Edward. She was also a doting grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She also helped care for her granddaughters , and at times, her great-grandson.

Lupe had many interests and hobbies. Throughout the years she collected antiques and artwork that is displayed throughout her home. She had a love for planting and gardening.  She enjoyed playing canasta, bingo, and bunco. She used to sew crafts for an arts and crafts store, and participated in many recreational activities like volleyball.

She was an extraordinary stay-at-home mother who kept a neat and welcoming household and made sure her family always had everything they needed. She had her children involved in everything from water skiing, snow skiing, ice skating, gymnastics, ballet, softball, baseball, and soccer, just to name a few.

In her later years, she remained very active by joining many groups and clubs, including the Sierra Club, Culture Club, International Club, a Bunco group, Canasta group, and Parents Without Partners. Even while juggling full-time caregiving responsibilities, she still made time for herself—attending dances and hosting gatherings at her home. She even managed to travel with her family and partake in white water rafting and ziplining.

Lupe was loved by her family and many of the friends she met along the way, and she will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and dedication to her family.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son Edward Karady, daughters Melissa Karady(Armando Garcia C) Leslie Karady-Kao (Michael Kao), also her granddaughters Jasmin Rodriguez and Brianna Rodriguez, and her great grandson Adan G Rodriguez.
