Lucia Ayala De Palma

February 12, 1919 — April 18, 2014

Lucia Ayala de Palma, 95, born in San Ildefonso, El Salvador on February 12, 1919 and passed away with her family in Los Angeles on April 18, 2014. She had been in declining health over the last six months and was the youngest and final living member of six children.

Although she was married to Juan Jose Palma when she was 24, she was affectionately referred to as Luciyita Ayala by many of her friends and relatives. She was a sweet and religious lady, who loved and cared deeply for her family and those in need. Her patience and good humor hid the internal strength of character she needed to survive the numerous difficulties she endured during her life.

She gave birth to five children, Blanca Azucena Palma (deceased), Rommel Antonio Palma (deceased; husband of Ana Elizabeth de Palma), Concepcion De Froscia (wife of Gerard De Froscia), Melanie Carmen Planas (wife of Milton Salvador Planas), and Juan Gilberto Palma. She had five grandchildren: Juan Francisco Palma (deceased), Elena Melanie Planas, Susana Elizabeth Palma de Herrera, Claudia Maria Palma de Jimenez, and John William De Froscia. She is survived by four great-grandchildren: Juan Jose Palma the second, Maria Jose Herrera, Cameron Apollo Barillas De Froscia, and Jairo Andres Jimenez.

After the deaths of her husband in 1978, her sister in 1979 and her son in 1980, she immigrated to the United States in 1984. She enjoyed traveling in her later years, visiting Florida and Canada and taking cruises with her family to the Mediterranean and Caribbean, where she embraced the sights of Rome and Puerto Rico among others.

It is with great sadness that the family salutes the life of Lucia Ayala de Palma, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family misses her already and will remember her love, kindness and generosity forever. Arrangements were handled by Forest Lawn in Glendale with funeral services performed by Father Paul Scanlon at St. Dominic Church in Eagle Rock.
