Lucia Tequillo Bofill, born on March 2, 1934 in Mabolo, Cebu City, Philippines, has departed to her heavenly inheritance on June 13, 2024 at the gracious age of 90.
“Lucy” was a beautiful filipina girl who always had a “Gentle Strength” about her. Early on in life Lucy was faced with the tragedies of WWII, losing her left hand at the young age of nine. Lucy’s parents, Felipe Go and Flora Vilma Tequillo along with her youngest sibling also became casualties of the war, but she and her older brother Cornelio Tequillo survived and eventually came to the United States in 1954.
On January 29, 1956, Lucy married her one and only husband Manuel Lewis Bofill II, in Los Angeles, Ca., to whom she bore four children. Manny and Lucy were married for 45 years before he passed in 2001.
For many years Lucy worked as a seamstress for a company in downtown Los Angeles named Peerless Uniform, where she developed her skill and creativity to produce beautiful garments. Lucy was also an amazing cook, known for her savory Filipino dishes.
During her life, Lucy enjoyed the horse races with her husband, rooting for her kids at sports events, but especially loved to travel with family and close friends.
In her latter years she moved to Victorville, CA where she lived out her days with family before her time of passing.
When Lucy was 59 years old she confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized in His name , thus securing her heavenly residency.
Lucy’s heart and gentle strength was greatly admired and respected by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be sorely missed by so many.
Lucy is survived by her four children: Butch, Grace, Joseph and Mark; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild with another on the way.
