With a heavy heart we inform you that our beloved Mom/Grandma/Great Grandma Luan Clara Knoles Smith passed away December 15, 2020, at the age of 85.
Luan was born in Los Angeles, California on April 14, 1935 to Milton and Clara Knoles. She had a wonderful childhood with her 5 older brothers spoiling her. She grew up in a family full of love, values and faith. They split their time between Los Angeles and Lake Arrowhead. She graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles. After graduation she met a Sailor in San Diego, George Smith. After 3 months of dating they knew they were meant for each other so they were married on November 21, 1953. They were blessed with 4 children: Sharon (Mike) Lamb, Teresa (Dan) Douglas, Tamara (Mike) Davis and Thomas (Kelly) Smith and she also had a step son Ric (Ronda) Smith. Luan had 10 Grandchildren: Mike Lamb, Luan (Myles) Luas, Allen Davis, Amanda (Travis) Chidley, Shelby Smith, Thomas (Briana) Davis, Morgan (Emalie) Mitchell, Serena Smith, Codie (Mark) Mathison, and Jessie Smith. And 6 Great Grandchildren: Myles Luas, Julia Luas, Tavien Lamb, Cassidy Raye Chidley, Bella Mathison and Harper Smith. Luan was the happiest when she was spending time with her family.
Luan was involved in her children's/grandchildren's life whether it be Blue Bird Leader, making their dresses, making their costumes, Cub Scouts, she attended every event any of them had. She would love to talk with each of them and offer her advice and love. She loved making their favorite foods and desserts whenever she had the chance, Pineapple Upside Down Cake was everyone's Favorite.
Luan worked for 32 years in the banking industry. After her beloved husband passed away in 1992 she moved to Alta Loma where she lived for 2 years then moved to Las Vegas to be near her Best Friend for 11 years. Las Vegas and Lake Arrowhead were her 2 favorite places in the world. Then in 2006 she moved to Hesperia, California because her health was giving her some problems so she moved near her youngest daughter so she could help her.
Luan never met a stranger; she loved to talk to everyone. She'd be in line at a store and start taking to the people in line. She looked forward to her weekly calls with her BFF, Fran Hudspeth. And enjoyed the calls with her cousin, Carol Knoles, who was more like a sister to her.
Luan will be missed but we know she is with our Lord and all the family that has gone on before her. Rest in Peace Mom. You will be forever Loved and Missed.
