Louann Brown

Louann Brown, 83, born on October 30, 1941, in Long Beach, CA, United States, passed away July 2025. The cause was breast cancer. She resided in Long Beach, CA at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA.

Born Louann Lucille Tanner but went by “Lanny”. Her parents were Leonard W. Tanner and Dorothy O. Dobson. They had three children, she was the only girl and the youngest of the family. Later after divorce, her father married Jean V. Lau. Before the remarriage her Aunt Diona Tanner helped out for some years with the young children.

She graduated from Wilson High School. Within months she married her brother Bob’s best friend Neil B. Christensen, home after military service. They had two boys. Her husband, a Long Beach Police Officer, passed away at thirty one in 1970, she later married Robert C. Brown, who was in the Insurance business. This marriage lasted nearly 50 years. They attended Cornerstone Church every Sunday in later years.

As an executive secretary, she worked for the City Attorney’s Office at Long Beach City Hall till 2003 at retirement. She is survived by her two sons, Bradley N. (Mary) Christensen of Irvine and Paul B. Christensen of Long Beach, stepson, Randall D. Brown of Laguna Niguel, a brother Kenneth L.Tanner of San Jacinto, and brother Robert R.Tanner, predeceased her. Their mother later had another brother Michael P. Dunkin of Nevada. 

There are numerous nieces and nephews. Her nephew, Army Ranger, Sgt. Thomas MacPherson, was killed in Afghanistan 13 years ago and is memorialized by the sign on the transition 405 Fwy north to 605 Fwy north and south at Katella.
