Loretta Fisher, 89, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 21,1937, to Patti Lou Evans and Dalma Evans in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was one of five children.
She grew up at the Oxford Masonic Home for Children in Oxford, North Carolina, where she was a proud member of the debate team. During her time there, she formed many lifelong friendships and stayed in touch with those friends throughout the years.
At the age of 16, she left Oxford to live with her sister Carmelita in Burbank, California, where she completed her education at John Burroughs High School. After graduating, she returned to North Carolina to work for her stepfather during the summer where she met and married her husband.
In 1955, she married Dallas Mathis. They had four children in just four years: Jeffrey, Patrick, David, and Brenda, which kept them busy.
When the children were young, the family relocated from North Carolina to Burbank, California, where Loretta made her home for many decades. In 1996 she met and later married Kenneth Fisher. Following his passing in 2020, she relocated to Temecula, California, where she spent her remaining years. Although she relocated later in life, Loretta always held a deep and enduring love for Burbank. In keeping with that love, she will be laid to rest near her mother, stepfather and with her husband Kenneth at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.
She was preceded in death by her father Dalma Evans; her mother Patti Lou Hall; stepfather James Hall; husbands Dallas Mathis and Kenneth Fisher; sons Jeffrey Mathis and Patrick Mathis; brother Dalma Evans; and sister Carmelita Phillips.
She leaves behind her children David Mathis and Brenda Savery; her siblings, Bettie Braswell, Jerry Evans, James Moore; twelve grandchildren; many great‑grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and numerous cherished friends.
Loretta was strong‑willed and possessed an enormous heart. She was clever, creative, and always full of poems, stories, and songs. She carried herself with dignity and strength and was known for her generosity and deep love for family and friends.
She will be remembered for the warmth and love she gave so fully and freely.
