Loretta Virata Cortes

Loretta Virata Cortes, 84, born on December 10, 1936 in Lipa City, Cavite, Philippines, passed away October 4, 2021. She is survived by her children: Rico, Liza, Loida and Ricky; sister, Lovely; grandchildren Ricardo, Rafael, Ramon, Jaime, Robbie, Alessandra, Mica, Erica, Jean Paul, Bianca, Lorenzo, Carina, Manolo and Massimo. She resided in Anaheim, California at the time of her passing.

Loretta was a Civil Engineer by profession, having practiced for 35 years. She retired in 1995 and immigrated to the US to be with her children Liza, Loida and Ricky and their families. Even though she primarily helped take care of her grandchildren, she found time to do the many things she loved: cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, attending prayer meetings and retreats, shopping (for others), travelling, texting, and watching TFC.

She had an abundance of friends, relatives, past co-workers, and neighbors whom she loved to spend time with. She was a dedicated member of many church groups, The Handmaids of the Lord being the last one she was a part of. She was well-loved by the Couples for Christ communities and ministries.

Loretta's generous and selfless traits are evident in the love that her children, especially her grandchildren, have for her and for one another. Her life of perseverance and prayer will guide those she left behind. She will be greatly missed, but her love will live on in the hearts of those she touched along the way.
