Loreto Esguerra Gonzalez

Our beloved mom, grandma and great grandma, Loreto Esguerra Gonzalez, age 91, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 6, 2020. She resided in Glendale, California, USA at the time of her passing.


Loreto (Lola Loring) was born on December 10, 1928, in Manila, Philippines. In her teens, she had to flee into the northern Luzon mountains to escape the Japanese invaders. She later on worked at the Manila City Hall where she met and fell in love with Lolo Bal, with whom she had seven children. Lola Loring pursued her American dream to support her family. She worked for a bank and settled in Los Angeles, California. Lola Loring loved going to the movies by herself and enjoyed cooking using only the best ingredients - Spanish sausage for Spaghetti and Ox tail for Kare-kare. She loved shopping especially for clothes, shoes and bags. Lola was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. We adore and love her. We will miss her dearly.


Lola Loring was preceded in death by her son Baltazar Jr. Mangaliman; husband, Baltazar Mangaliman and survived by three daughters Marytes, Encay and Chinky; sons Bobby, Dick and Raul; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.


The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 and will start with a Mass at 9:00 am at Mission San Fernando Rey de España, 15151 San Fernando Mission Boulevard, Mission Hills, California, USA 91345. The interment will be at San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery, 11160 Stranwood Avenue, Mission Hills, California, USA 91345.


Visitation is from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday, February 19-20, 2020 at the Church of the Recessional – Forest Lawn Glendale, 1712 S. Glendale Avenue, Glendale, California, USA 91205.
