Obituary

Lorene was the first-born child to Irene and Thornton Reid in Wewoka, OK on December 7, 1927.

Lorene had three siblings: Arthur, Dora and Otis Reid- in addition to older siblings: Jessie, Lovie, Frank and Spencer Reid.

December 1945 the young Reid Family relocated to Saticoy, California and Lorene graduated from Ventura High School and gained employment in various establishments until she gained employed at the Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, California 1955 as a Supply Clerk Typist.

Lorene became not only a sister and mother at home, but a sister and mother to many around the world touching hearts through her voice, songs and musical talents not to mention spreading her infectious humor wherever she went.

On September 20, 1947 Lorene Reid married Harvel Pierce (Eufaula, OK). Lorene and Harvel had five children: Jerome, Harold, Gail, Brenda and Marcia.  Lorene and Harvel resided in Oxnard and joined Trinity Baptist church. Lorene played the piano, organ, sang and directed many choirs for many years not only at Trinity, but Emmanual Baptist Church, Evangelistic Baptist and Shiloh Baptist church all in Oxnard. She was also an Ambassador for Avon Beauty Products for over thirty years. Lorene and Harvel and the family loved to travel within California and to Oklahoma, and across the country visiting numerous family and friends. Cooking home-cooked meals and baking on holidays and birthdays were especially enjoyable moments and opportunities for her to fellowship at church and with family and friends.

Lorene and Harvel divorced and Lorene married Reverend Richard Parks and became a step-mom to four children: Richard Jr., Yvonne, Dan and Keith; and became a grandmother many. Additionally, Rev Parks and Sister Parks pastored Calvary Baptist Church, Oxnard California and Sister Parks became a First Lady and Church Mother.

Upon retirement from Port Hueneme Naval Base in 1985, Richard and Lorene retired to the High Desert, Victorville and drove many RVs (recreational vehicle) across country for years attending family reunions and gatherings. Rev Parks and Lorene joined First Missionary Baptist church in Victorville where they were very active in the church and High Desert community. Rev Parks transitioned in 2000 and Lorene relocated to Long Beach and became a member of St. Mark Baptist church in 2004 where Mother Parks played the piano for Sunday school until she was 95-years-old.

Lorene transitioned June 8, 2026 leaving behind to cherish her memories: Brenda, Marcia, five grandchildren: Latrice, Harold Jr., Sherri, Christopher and Summer; great grandchildren: Ravon, Sam, Jamar, Clevon, Corrin, Seth and Olivia; and great-great grandchildren: Mason, Kacey, Azariah and Nehemiah and a host of family and friends.
