Lola Sue Marye

March 2, 1924 — March 18, 2019

Lola Sue Marye, 95, born on March 2, 1924, in Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away March 18, 2019. She resided in Buena Park, California at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California, where a visitation will be held on March 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and services will be held on March 28th at 2:00 p.m. Details are below.

Lola is survived by her son, Merlin Eugene Marye, her daughter, Rosalind Denise Borges (nee: Marye), six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving sibling of six children in her nuclear family headed by her father, Umberto Raso, and her mother, Rosa Raso (nee: Porchia) .

She grew up in Grand Junction where she met and married her husband of 62 years, Vernon Eugene Marye. She lived her entire adult life in southern California where she loved the mild climate with its lack of frigid winters and scorching summers. She worked more than 30 years as a supermarket cashier.

Lola loved traveling with Vernon. Besides trips to visit family in Colorado, northern California, Arizona and Nevada, they explored Mexico, Spain and Portugal. She even traveled by auto with her daughter and son-in-law across the United States this past October.

Noted for her fashion sense, Lola was always dressed, coiffed and accessorized for any occasion. More than even traveling she loved family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and their many offspring. She had a special soft spot in her heart for "her cats", Heather, Teddy and especially Chat.

Her passing is not one of grief, but rather one of celebration for a long life well lived. Please join her family and friends in that celebration.

Note: Despite this website's advertisements and click-through buttons to purchase flowers, the family requests that you do not send flowers. Instead, if you are so inclined, please feel free to donate to a worthy cause in Lola's name.
