Lois Mae Agrelius

Lois passed away at her home surrounded by family at the age of 87 on January 15, 2015, in Alta Loma California. Lois was born on October 22, 1927 in Tacoma Washington to Benjamin and Vivian McLorinan. Lois graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma. Lois was president of the swim club, a member of the letterman's club for two years and a choir member for three years. Shortly after Lois graduated high school her family moved to the Los Angeles area. This is where she met her husband Edwin. After Edwin's four years in the army, he made her a June bride on June 1st 1950. The following year they had their first born Cathy. A few years later they relocated to Tacoma WA. Edwin worked as an electronics technician for the Tacoma Police department where he eventually retired. Lois worked in the banking industry for many years. During that time she kept her love for singing and was a member of the choral group called the "Bank Notes". The "Bank Notes" performed at bank functions and other business functions over the years. Lois and Edwin often enjoyed the pleasure of traveling. Their travel bug was shared with their children. They took family trips to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii and many other places. Lois and her husband raised their daughter Cathy in Puyallup Washington. This is where they built their own custom home with an in ground swimming pool and a dozen apple trees. They loved to entertain family and friends around the pool and Lois could bake the best apple pie. When Cathy was eleven they had their second child Jason. After Cathy went off to college, Lois in her early forty's went back to college at the University of Washington and earned a BA in Business and later a Masters from Central Washington St College for teaching. During that time Lois found a passion for geology. Any time after that, it was always a fun lesson when she would look up at a hillside or found a cool looking rock. When Jason turned ten, they moved to Lakewood Washington. They joined the Oakbrook Golf and Country Club where they enjoyed a little bit of the good life. Lois taught at Fort Steilacoom Community College for over ten years. There she specialized in a day long class for under privileged women teaching secretarial and life skills. Lois took a great passion in helping her students succeed in life. Lois enjoyed her life living for more than forty years in the Oakbrook community. Over the years she enjoyed visiting her daughter Cathy and son-in-law Dennis at their house on Lake Tapps. Lois enjoyed sitting on the dock, and loved to visit with the dogs and horses. Lois became passionately involved with her townhouse HOA, being their secretary and treasurer for many years. When her granddaughter Felicia was born she took great pride in her. Lois jumped at any chance to babysit, take her to any lessons and just spend time with her. Ten years ago her husband Edwin passed. After that she liked spending more time with her granddaughter Felicia. Lois loved to visit her son's house almost daily and would borrow their dog Oscar to take for walks around Waughop Lake. Just over two years ago Lois moved to Southern California with her son Jason, daughter-in-law Sara and granddaughter Felicia. She enjoyed living out her days in the California sunshine gardening, doing large puzzles and taking her dog Ruby for walks. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. Lois was preceded in death by (brother) Eugene, (sister) Elaine, (husband) Edwin Agrelius. Lois is survived by (daughter) Cathy L Brown, (son-in-law) Dennis Brown, (son) Jason S Agrelius, (daughter-in-law) Sara Agrelius, (granddaughter) Felicia M Agrelius.
