Lisa Anne Maze, 50, born on July 6, 1969 in Sierra Madre, California, passed away on August 11, 2019.
Lisa was a prominent dog trainer and breeder who always lived life to the fullest and knew no boundaries. She touched the lives of everyone that she encountered, whether it was training dogs or just chatting with someone at a local Starbucks. Lisa's life was an open book: she regularly shared stories about her life and experiences with anyone that was interested. To know Lisa was to love her; she was one of the funniest, most entertaining, caring and passionate people you could ever know. Even through her battle with cancer she could make you laugh about her struggles.
Training dogs was more than a profession for Lisa, it was a passion. Throughout the years she shared her home and her bed with many different breeds of dogs, and a few mutts too. Lisa bred working Belgian Malinois under the kennel name Loups Du Soleil, and Border Terriers under the kennel name Tumbleweed. She and her dogs competed and trained for obedience, rally obedience, hunting retriever tests, flyball, French Ringsport, Mondioring, Schutzhund, sheep herding trials, dock diving, earth dog, barn hunt, conformation, and more. She was the breeder, owner, handler, and trainer of one of the world's most accomplished Belgian Malinois, Feist, whose titles include Schutzhund 3, Mondioring 3, and French Ring 3, along with titles in obedience, flyball, dock diving, and more. Their success in dog sports took them across the globe to compete in both Portugal and Italy.
Lisa is survived by her father, Neal Maze, mother, JoAnne Maze, and brother, Michael Maze (Lisa), 2 nephews Nicholas and Ethan and her beloved Bizzy. She was preceded in death by her grandparents John and Adelle Maze and Louis and Josephine Scoville as well as Gator, Gotcha, Cosmo and Feist.
There will be a celebration of life on August 19, 2019 from 11am-1pm at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cathedral City. Internment will be held at 1:30pm at Desert Memorial Park.
