Linda Gerard

December 24, 1938 — March 21, 2014

Born Linda Sue Albert in Trenton, NJ, Gerard attended Finch College and studied at the American Theater Wing. Upon moving to NYC she was signed by the William Morris Agency. Gerard was renowned for her tremendous singing voice and acting talent. In the 1960's she was chosen to be Barbra Streisand's stand-by in the role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on Broadway. Linda toured as Fanny Brice in the road company of the show and then she returned to NY to a career that spanned television, stage, night clubs and cabaret as a sought after and much loved performer. In 1976, she moved to Provincetown, Massachusetts and was co-owner of the Pied Piper, one of only a handful of women's bars in the country. Gerard's fan base grew exponentially and she became known far and wide for her performances and larger than life persona. Gerard's next successful venture was as owner of the Rose Tattoo in West Hollywood, CA.
In the early 1990's, Gerard relocated to Palm Springs where she was a member of the cast of the Palm Springs Follies. This chapter of her life included her iconic performances at the Ace Hotel as the "singing hostess of Sissy Bingo" developing yet another devoted fan base.
She is survived by her adoring twin daughters, Cynthia and Regina Binder, her former husband and friend, Gerard Binder, brother Jeffrey Albert, niece Nikki and nephews John and Timothy, her long time and dearest friend Pam Genevrino and many other loving friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Orphan Pet Oasis or Palm Springs Animal Shelter. Celebrations of her life will take place later this spring in Palm Springs, New York City and in Provincetown this summer.
