Linda G. Dorman

Linda Gibson Dorman, 68, passed away in Los Angeles, California, on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, surrounded by her three loving daughters. Linda was born on August 30, 1950, in Warren, Ohio, to John C. Gibson Sr. and Mary (Cassel) Gibson. She is survived by her three beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Monica (Dorman) and Phil Tuttle, Rachael (Dorman) and Peter Janowski, and Michelle Dorman and Tim Muir; by her three siblings and their spouses, John C. and Lynn (Wagner) Gibson Jr., Chris and DeeDee (Discerni) Gibson Sr., and Gretchen (Gibson) and Rick McQuown; and by so many other loving family and friends.


Linda was predeceased by her husband, Gary J. Dorman. Linda and Gary met while freshman at the University of Michigan and were married in 1973. They were devoted partners and the best of friends until his passing in 2012.


Linda was smart, witty, and thoughtful; a force of integrity. She was intellectually curious about everything and loved to share in others' interests and passions. She was a true lover of books: reading to her girls throughout their lives, volunteering as an elementary school librarian for over a decade, collecting Newbery and Caldecott Medal winning children's books, and enjoying good reads -- and great friendships -- in numerous book clubs over the past 30 years.
