Lily D. Hall-Petro

April 14, 1967 — February 21, 2024

Garden Grove, CA

Lily Hall, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away on February 21, 2024, in Garden Grove after bravely battling cancer for three years. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Lily was born in Alhambra, CA, on April 14, 1967. Throughout her life, Lily touched the hearts of many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for those around her. As a High School Science teacher, Lily excelled in helping her students to succeed and to learn about science and life. Her repeated selfless acts of guiding them on the right path in and out of school were always present. All who knew Lily would say they are a better person today for meeting her. Each Christmas, Lily would spend hundreds of hours designing, decorating and creating a holiday winter wonderland with sites, villages, parades, amusement rides, mountains and model trains to share with all.  Lily's generosity and kindness to invite everyone to the house to come and share in the display was so notable, ABC-7 News did a piece on her during their morning newscast in Dec 2018 and The Orange County Register featured Lily and the display on the front page of the Dec 11, 2022 edition. Lily was a treasure on this earth, a shining beacon of light, an amazing women with a beautiful spirit that would spread to all who met her.

She is survived by her devoted husband William (Bill) Petro; her sons David Hall and Jacob Hall & his fiancée Kady Palma; stepdaughter Jessica Petro; stepson Nicholas Petro & his spouse Jamie; stepson Joshua Petro & his spouse Rachelle; granddaughter Remy J Petro; grandson Ethan Petro; sister Angela-Minky Timpe; brother Michael Muller; best friend Kathy Wheeler; best friends Alicia & Ron McGuff; plus a vast extended family and friends who were deeply impacted by Lily's presence in their lives.

To honor Lily's life and legacy, a Viewing will be held on Friday April 12 at Forest Lawn - Cypress (4471 Lincoln Ave, Cypress, CA) in the Patriots Chapel from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Memorial Service will take place on Saturday April 13 at the same location in the Patriots Chapel from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Immediately following the Memorial Service, a Celebration of Life for Lily will be held at the Neighborhood Church of Cypress, 6143 Ball Road, Cypress, CA. All are welcome.  Please come and celebrate Lily's life.

Lily will always be remembered for her generosity, compassion, kindness and keen/unique sense of humor in addition to the love she shared with all who knew her. Her contagious laughter and spirit will be greatly missed but forever treasured in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace knowing how profoundly she was loved and how deeply she will be missed.

In Lieu of flowers, Lily's wish was to make sure the students at Nava College Prep who could not afford a yearbook are able to purchase one. Please make a donation Payable To:  Nava College Preparatory Academy Student Body (In Memo: Donation to Purchase Yearbooks - Ms. Hall) and Mail To: Nava College Preparatory Academy, 1319 E. 41st Street, Los Angeles,  CA   90011.  ATTN: Principal Ms. Jennifer Casillas (Ms. Lily Hall).
