Lillian L. Leon

Lillian Leon, 89 years old, passed away peacefully while sleeping in her Bermuda Dunes residence on February 2, 2018 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born on November 12, 1928 in San Bernardino, California. Lillian settled in the valley in 1936 along with her parents and her 3 siblings, Luis, Lupe, and Margaret, eventually meeting the love of her life, Robert Leon. On April 8th, 1945, at the age of 16, they eloped prior to Robert being shipped out to Europe during World War II. She is survived by her 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. In 1956, she and her husband opened a business in Mecca, California where they became prominent property owners and entrepreneurs of a grocery and meat market called Leon's Market. She was very kind hearted and a hard worker who enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rather than continuing on with a long list of deserved testimonials, let's just say she was an incredible person. How incredible? Whatever we did for our Mom, she was always worthy of more. Lillian Leon will always be in our hearts. Services will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 13.
