Lillian Anita Carlson, 97, born on September 25, 1921, in Rockford, Illinois, passed away February 5, 2019. She resided in Valley Glen, California at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California. Born and raised in Winnebago County, Lillian graduated from Rockford High School in 1939. She received her Nursing Diploma from St. Anthony's Hospital three years later and married William Carlson after graduating. They moved to California in 1945 and began raising a family, bringing into the world two sons, Michael and Richard. She was a registered nurse for over 50 years; working at Valley Doctors and Riverside Hospitals in the San Fernando Valley. She graduated from Redlands University, while seeing her sons attend college. After she retired, volunteered on the Help Line, served as a representative of her church to the Interfaith Food Pantry, and a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship. A very devoted mother and grandmother, she was involved in the life of her grandchildren and loved to be with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, William in 1981. Lillian is survived by sons Michael (Margaret) and Richard (Ronnie); grandchildren Brenden, Kristin (Nicholas), Nancy (Juan Carlos), Darrin (Kara), and Mike Gonzales ; and great grandchildren: Estrella, Allie, Austin,and Elias. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 16, at 1:pm, at the First Christian Church of North Hollywood, 4390 Colfax Avenue, No. Hollywood. A viewing will be held that morning from 9 to 11 am. at Forest Lawn- Hollywood Hills. Gifts in memory of Lillian's life may be given to the Interfaith Food Pantry, payable to First Christian Church (memo -Pantry). The family is grateful to the staff of Shalev Senior Living for the wonderful care that she received the past four years.
