Lidia Del Carmen Aldrett

March 17, 1948 — November 23, 2021

Lidia was born on St. Patrick's Day in the city of Saltillo in Coahuila, Mexico. She was the oldest child of a prominent family with ties to the railroad industry. Soon she was blessed with two siblings, Belinda and Carlos, whom she loved and cared for the rest of her life. Her parents settled in San Luis Potosí where she lived until her early adulthood. She attended university and worked as a teacher while continuing her studies.
*
Lidia met Hector Aldrett by chance at his father's mattress factory. They married in 1968. She gave birth to her oldest son, Eric Omar Aldrett, later that year and to her second son, Edgar Aldrett, two years after. In 1972, she moved to Los Angeles with her family for better opportunities. There she raised her sons and gave birth to her third child, Belinda Arlene Aldrett, in 1987.
*
Lidia was a working mother respected by her colleagues. She was promoted to restaurant manager at a local Mexican food chain, Los Burritos, where she worked for almost 30 years. Also, she studied electronics and became an artisan.
*
Lidia built a huge network of friends. She was a wonderful listener and had a beautiful voice. She was admired by her peers for her insightful perspectives, her honest opinions, and her strong, compassionate, loving nature. She showed love through food. Her family loved her chilaquiles, which she taught her children and grandchildren to make.
*
Lidia loved fashion and was always stylish no matter the occasion. Roman Holiday was her favorite movie--the one that made her want to see the world. She loved different cultures and enjoyed traveling.
*
Lidia always put her family first in her life, making the best of situations for her family. When her son Eric was diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), she fought to get him top-of-the-line care in Sweden. That care extended Eric's life for another 10 years so he was able to graduate high school, get a job, and have a girlfriend before passing away in July of 1989.
*
In 2017, Lidia was diagnosed with cervical cancer which she battled with her family and friends by her side. In March of 2018, Lidia lost her best friend and confidante, her sister Belinda Rebollo. Still she persevered for several years which allowed her to meet her two youngest grandchildren and travel to see them all--a great joy in her life. Finally, in November 2021, she ended her battle and passed away peacefully in her sleep.
*
Lidia was a true caregiver, mother, sister, wife, lover, friend, and the most beautiful soul and human being one could ever meet. She loved deeply and was loved.
*
Lidia is survived by her daughter Belinda, son-in-law Jesse Barrios, and their two children, Alonzo and Azalia; her son Edgar, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and their daughters, Ava, Bijou, and Bebel; her brother Carlos D. H. Lucero; her brother-in-law Ricardo Rebollo; and her husband Hector.
*
The world has lost a beautiful star that brought light to so many people.
