Born May 22, 1937, in Wuhan City, China, Leyi Sun's incredible journey was marked by unwavering resilience and relentless pursuit of excellence. She graduated from No.22 Middle School in 1956 before attending Wuhan Yangtze River Medical School and eventually becoming a certified M.D. in 1982. Leyi's career path led her to become a respected leader in occupational disease prevention and control, where she impacted the lives of 120,000 individuals in the Nanhua Industrial Area. Her commitment to epidemic prevention and hygiene made her footsteps resonate across factories and schools, embodying a true essence of service and selflessness.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Leyi Sun was described as honest, kind, courageous, and diligent—a devoted mother, loving wife, caring grandmother, and compassionate healer to many. Her nurturing spirit extended not only to her family but also to the community she served tirelessly. Leyi found solace in her hobbies and interests, particularly dedicating herself to exercise since 1981. Her dedication to physical fitness through running and martial arts not only rejuvenated her own spirit but inspired those around her.
In the face of adversity and personal loss, Leyi Sun stood tall like a resilient flower amidst life's turbulent storms. She raised three children and three granddaughters with unwavering love and grace. Despite the challenges she faced along the way, Leyi thrived and bloomed into a vibrant example of strength and perseverance.
Leyi Sun is survived by her beloved husband Peijian Xu; her son Bo Xu; daughter Tao Sun; son-in-law Steven Luna; granddaughters Crystal Bai and Liyang Xu. In their moment of grief, may they find solace in the memories of Leyi's enduring love and legacy.
Among those who mourn Leyi's passing are Lingxing Sun/Meng (niece) and husband; Jun Sun/Wei Li (nephew) and wife; Hong Sun/Ying Huang (nephew) and wife; Xia Sun/nephew and husband. Their shared loss is immeasurable as they remember Leyi's warmth and affection that touched each of their lives.
Services to honor Leyi Sun's remarkable life will be held at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills on March 27 for visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service on March 28 at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills - Church of our Heritage from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. As we come together to celebrate Leyi's life let us remember her as a guiding light whose impact will forever resonate within us.
