In Loving Memory of Leopoldo Demesa Elauria

Leopoldo Demesa Elauria, 72, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026. He was born on December 30, 1953, in Manila, Philippines, and spent his later years in Anaheim, California.

Leopoldo studied Physics at the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, where he became actively involved in his fraternity. His leadership, dedication, and commitment to service quickly became evident. After graduating, he became a physics teacher and served as a faculty adviser to the fraternity, mentoring students and helping shape future generations.

With just $100 in his pocket, Leopoldo made the courageous decision to move to the United States in search of greater opportunities. There, he met his wife, Grace Abrogueña, and together they built a life. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Angela Abrogueña and Kathryn Demesa Sebastian.

Leopoldo was an intelligent, independent, and determined man who lived life on his own terms. Once he made up his mind, there was little that could change it. He cared deeply for others, often placing their needs above his own. He was generous with his time, advice, and support, quietly helping countless people throughout his life.

His fraternity remained one of his greatest passions. As President of UP Aguman sa Panan-aw (UPASANA), he played an integral role in strengthening and growing the alumni association in the United States. He devoted his time to reconnecting alumni, organizing events, preserving traditions, and supporting fraternity brothers and sisters whenever they needed him. His impact on the organization and the lives of its members will be felt for generations.

A lifelong thinker, Leopoldo valued knowledge, reason, and lifelong learning. He challenged ideas, asked difficult questions, and encouraged others to think for themselves. The lessons he taught extended far beyond the classroom and continue to shape those who knew and loved him.

He was a proud grandfather to Berkeley Amor Demesa Sebastian, Olive Love Demesa Sebastian, Gable Mahal Demesa Sebastian, Willow Amada Demesa Sebastian, who preceded him in death, and Juniper Sara Demesa Sebastian. His grandchildren brought him immense pride and joy, and his love for them was evident in every opportunity he had to spend with them.

Leopoldo leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, resilience, service, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, students, and fraternity. Though he is no longer with us, his stories, wisdom, and example continue to guide us. His life reminds us that one person's kindness, courage, and commitment to others can leave a lasting impact on countless lives. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May his memory inspire us to live meaningful lives.
