Leonila "Nila" Cuizon, born on January 17, 1941, in Manila, Philippines, passed away on February 20, 2026. She led a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family. Nila earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at Far Eastern University in Manila and working as a teacher before embarking on her journey to the United States.
In the United States, she explored a variety of career options including caregiver, machinist, and customer service. Her versatility in the workforce reflected her smart and tough personality. She was known for her no-nonsense attitude, friendliness, and a great sense of humor.
Nila was married to her beloved husband, Efren, for nearly 54 years. Throughout their life together, she supported him in his career as a sailor in the U.S. Navy, often managing the household and caring for their two young children during his deployments. Nila set an exceptional example of hard work and commitment to her family. In her later years, her husband showered her with love and affection, treating her like a princess.
Nila treasured spending time with her grandchildren, Mahalia, Kaylee, and Alexandru. She delighted in sharing words of wisdom and and enjoying precious milestones and moments with them. She was always encouraging them to do their best and celebrating their achievements.
In remembrance of Nila, visitation services will be held at Forest Lawn - Cypress - Hope Chapel in Cypress, California. The first visitation will occur on February 28, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a second visitation on March 1, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on March 2, 2026, at Forest Lawn - Cypress - Patriots Chapel, beginning at 11:30 AM. For those who cannot make it in person, services will be live-streamed on Zoom: Meeting ID: 875 7847 5941; Passcode: 055572.
