Leonardo A. Sanchez, 80, born on 12th December 1935, in Uson, Masbate, Philippines, and passed away peacefully at his home 20th June 2016 after a long illness. He resided in Garden Grove, California at the time of his passing.

Beloved father of Linda (Adrian), Lisa (Joshua) and Leonard (Quincy) and devoted grandfather to Amelia, Julian, Maisie and Ewan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Letty, six siblings, and his parents, Leopoldo and Candelaria. He is also survived by his brother, eight half-siblings, his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in a large extended family in the US, Canada, Australia, and the Philippines.

In 1968, he and his wife Letty immigrated to the United States and settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where their three children were born and raised. After his wife died in 1979, he raised his young children as a single father. He was very proud that all of his children graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan, each progressing to successful professional careers.

He retired as a chemical engineer from the Chrysler Corporation in Michigan after 22 years. His long engineering career spanned 30 years, starting in process engineering for the sugar industry in the Philippines, and progressing to design and quality engineering for the automotive industry in Michigan. At Chrysler, his work focused on emissions to ensure that Chrysler products met EPA and state air quality standards.

In retirement in Ann Arbor, he liked to garden, work on computers, and travel to visit his children/grandchildren and relatives. His final years were spent in California to enjoy the warmer climate.

Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park – Glendale, 1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205 on Friday, July 1st from 10am to 9pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at Wee Kirk o' the Heather chapel at Forest Lawn – Glendale on Saturday, July 2nd at 2pm. Burial will take place following the service.

A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to UNICEF.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.
